Born in the Netherlands, Bernard initially got involved in the arts as a photographer and printmaker. He actively participated in cultural events under the name Bee Flowers.
Bernard (Bee) felt a strong need to create physical artworks and changed his focus to sculpture. He then earned his Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art. His wood and stone bas-reliefs made him a Bloomberg New Contemporaries artist in 2014.
The experience of work with a variety of materials now helps Bernard design furniture to fit seamlessly within Ter Hoeven Design's interiors when the right items can’t be sourced otherwise.
